Our History

Established in 2010 by our founders, Evan Jaffe, MBA (son) and Sam Jaffe, DDS (father), Mabel Dental Lab has grown by leaps and bounds. Mabel Dental Lab was originally established as an in-house only laboratory serving one large dental practice with 15 offices in just Ohio. However, after a short time of opening, the dentists were so impressed with the timeliness and quality of the lab that they wanted to send cases from their own practices to the lab. Without hesitation we of course said yes and it was only a short matter of time after that that Mabel Dental Lab began serving dentists in more than 9 states!

Our Founders – Father & Son

Our President Sam Jaffe, DDS is an experienced dentist with over 40 years of experience. A lifelong Cleveland resident, he attended The Ohio State University for undergraduate as well as dental school. Dr. Jaffe was the co-founder in 1976 of one of the largest dental practices in the region, American Dental Centers. He has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, several national dental trade publications as well as has made several television appearances. While operating over 23 dental offices, he grew tired of using multiple labs with inconsistent quality and communication. So when the opportunity arose to start a dental lab with his eldest son Evan, he jumped at the opportunity. After selling his practice, he now dedicates his time to Mabel Dental Lab and babysitting his grandchildren. Mabel Dental Lab is especially proud that we are one of the very few dental labs in the United States that boasts a dentist with Dr. Jaffe’s unique experience. He brings a wealth of clinical knowledge that is rarely seen within the dental lab industry and is happy to talk with dentists about his experience on the business side of running a practice.

HIs son, our CEO, Evan Jaffe, MBA runs all of the day to day operations. He previously worked in management at several Fortune 500 companies including Progressive Insurance where he was the youngest manager in their Commercial Auto division before co-founding Mabel Dental Lab. Evan grew up in a suburb east of Cleveland, Ohio and attended The Ohio State University where he graduated with a BS in Risk Management/Insurance. While in Columbus, he became the first intern ever for Safe Auto Insurance. After leaving Columbus he attended Cleveland State University where he received his Masters in Business Administration. A avid sports fan, Evan loves his Buckeyes, Browns, Cavs and Indians. He currently lives south of Cleveland with his wife, daughter, son and their yorkie Zoe (our unofficial mascot).

Our Name – Why Mabel?

One of the most common questions we get asked is how did we come up with our name, Mabel. Usually people ask if it was named after a grandparent or someone named Mabel but It is actually the first initial of our CEO’s first name and his siblings!
